Spaghetti bolognese or as we say it in greek “Pasta with mince sause”: an old time classic dish everybody loves!

  • 3 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 carrot finely chopped
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 clove of garlic chopped
  • 100gr (4-5 slices) of bacon
  • 900g of beef mince
  • 2 tbsp of tomato paste
  • 200 ml of red wine
  • 2 tomatoes grated
  • 200ml of water
  • 1 thyme clone
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper


  1. Add the oil and butter in a saucepan and sauté on high heat the carrot, onion, garlic and bacon for 4-5 minutes.
  2. Then add the mince and sauté, stirring continuously with a wooden spoon until it is ready.
  3. Add the tomato paste and stir well. Pour the wine and let it boil for 5 minutes, lower the heat and add the grated tomato, thyme and bay leaf. Add salt and pepper and add then the  water. Allow to boil for a low heat for 40-45 minutes, until the sauce becomes ‘thick’.
  4. Serve with your favourite kind of pasta and enjoy!
