Egg Coloring with cloth threads

According to the custom, egg coloring is traditionally held on Holy Thursday or Holy Saturday. Most of us use commercial dyes, edible pastry dyes or we let the eggs boil twith foods with strong dyes such as black cabbage or beetroot. To decorate the eggs we choose stickers, decals or,  for a more DIY effect, we wrap the eggs with tulle, twine and leaves.

For today I have the fastest and easiest way to paint eggs, using materials that we all have home. And I mean it: eggs coloring with threads! All you need is colorful threads, aluminum foil and a pot! The threads can be obtained from special branches or local stores with threads and handmade materials.

The procedure:

  • Step 1: Boil the eggs with cold water. We take a piece of aluminum foil, lay the threads on the surface and wrap the egg. If necessary, add some threads to the top so that the egg is fully covered before closing the foil.
  • Step 2: Place the eggs in the pot. Once boiling begins, leave the eggs in the water for ten minutes.
  • Step 3: Remove the eggs from the water, allow to cool and remove the aluminum foil and threads. Our eggs are ready!

Happy Easter!
